1. Thomas¹ HOWARD was born in South Carolina, according to the 1850 Chickasaw County, Mississippi census, about 1780.

The first record that I can find on Thomas was in the Warren County, Georgia Tax Digest of 1801 and 1805. Thomas drew land in the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery while living in Warren County, Georgia. Thomas also drew land in the 1807 Georgia Land Lottery in Baldwin County, Georgia. He is also found serving on a jury in Warren County, Georgia, September 1812.  He served on a jury in Warren County, Georgia, March 1814.  Thomas is also found paying taxes in Warren County, Georgia, 1817 and 1818. Thomas was listed as the head of the family on the 1820 Census in Warren County, Georgia, on Reedy Creek, and the following individuals that surrounded Thomas were Sterling Proctor, Issac Hart, Martha Huff, Thomas Hogab, John Champion, John Kelly, Matthew Bailey, and Samuel Rutherford. He served on a jury in Warren County, Georgia, 1822.  Thomas was listed as the head of the family on the 1830 Census in Baker County, Georgia, and also on the 1840 Census in Baker County, Georgia. Living near Thomas was David White who is also found near Thomas in the 1850 Chickasaw County, Mississippi census. Thomas registered to pay taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1844. Thomas was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. So far I have not found any record of Thomas' wife, therefore we do not know her name. There is a marriage record in Rowan County, North Carolina for a Thomas Howard and Harriett Gaither, 29 October 1799. This Harriett could possibly be the woman we are looking for and further investigation will need to be done to verify this. Thomas Howard's son Thomas Jefferson Howard named his first daughter Harriett, which is a good clue.

William registered to pay taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1854.

+ 4 iii. Thomas Jefferson HOWARD was born October 17, 1814.

5 iv. John J. HOWARD was born in Georgia about 1825. John registered to pay taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1845. John registered to pay taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1852.

6 v. Rachel HOWARD was born in Georgia about 1829. It is not known if Rachel is actually a daughter of Thomas'. She could possibly be the wife of John J. Howard. I have not found any additional records on John and Rachel.

3. Samuel² HOWARD (Thomas¹) was born in Warren County, Georgia about 1813.

He married twice. He married Elizabeth A. JONES in Carroll County, Georgia, September 7, 1836.  He married Martha Naomi Vaughn EILAND in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, August 19, 1860.  

Samuel served in the military in Chickasaw County, Mississippi.  Samuel is found paying taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi for the following years: 1846, 1848, 1850, 1852, 1853. 

Samuel HOWARD and Elizabeth A. JONES had the following children:

8 ii. William HOWARD was born in Georgia about 1838.

9 iii. Martha B. HOWARD was born in Georgia about 1838.

10 iv. Ward HOWARD was born in Georgia about 1840.

11 v. Zelda HOWARD was born in Mississippi about 1842. She married Elisha LLOYD in Clay County, Mississippi, July 18, 1876.

Samuel HOWARD and Martha Naomi Vaughn EILAND had the following children:

12 vi. William Preston HOWARD was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi about 1861.

13 vii. Samuel Richard Hudson HOWARD was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi about 1863. He married Myrtle HOLDER. 

14 viii. Albert Sidney Johnston HOWARD was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi December 26, 1865. Albert died March 18, 1922 in Parker County, Texas, at 56 years of age. He married Frances Alice AWTREY in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, December 24, 1888. Frances was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi December 7, 1872. Frances died December 15, 1955 in Parker County, Texas, at 83 years of age.

15 ix. Robert Frances HOWARD was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi December 18, 1867. He married twice. He married Minnie Jewett BENTON.  He married Eliza Jane COOPER. 

16 x. Elizabeth N. HOWARD was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi about 1873.

17 xi. Minnie V. HOWARD was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi about 1875.

18 xii. Pearl HOWARD was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi about 1878.

4. Thomas Jefferson² HOWARD (Thomas¹) was born in Warren County, Georgia October 17, 1814. The information on Thomas' birth comes from his Indian War Pension Records. Thomas died January 5, 1898 in Mineral City, Bee County, Texas at 83 years of age. His body was interred January 8, 1898 in Mineral City, Bee County, Texas, Mineral City Cemetery.

He married Sarah Ann JONES in Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia, April 22, 1837.  Sarah was born in Georgia about 1820. Sarah died November 19, 1904 in Rockport, Aransas County, Texas, at 84 years of age.  

Thomas served in the Indian War and was inducted in Fayetteville County, Georgia, June 16, 1836. He was released from active duty in West Point, Alabama, August 31, 1836.  Thomas registered to pay taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1844. Thomas registered to pay taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1845.  Thomas applied for bounty land in Washington, Arkansas, 1852. Thomas registered to pay taxes in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1853.  Thomas applied for bounty land in Goliad County, Texas, 1855. Thomas registered to pay taxes in Goliad County, Texas, 1857. 1859 and 1860.  Thomas was listed as the head of the family on the 1860 Census in Goliad County, Texas. Thomas was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Refugio County, Texas. Thomas applied for a military pension in Bee County, Texas, 1892.

19. Harriett C.³ HOWARD (Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Carroll County, Georgia February 8, 1838. Harriett died January 9, 1930 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, at 91 years of age.

She married Lyman BRIGHTMAN in Goliad County, Texas, July 19, 1855.  Lyman was born in Indiana about 1828 and died January 21, 1918 in Comanche County, Texas, at 89 years of age. Lyman served in the military in Texas, May 1862. He was released from active duty May 1865. 

Harriett was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Refugio County, Texas. Harriett was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in St. Mary's, Refugio County, Texas. Harriett was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Comanche County, Texas. Harriett was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census in Comanche County, Texas. Harriett applied for a military pension in Comanche County, Texas, January 30, 1918. Harriett was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in Comanche County, Texas.

Harriett C. HOWARD and Lyman BRIGHTMAN had the following children:

20. Oswell Jefferson³ HOWARD (Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Carroll County, Georgia April 1840. Oswell died April 1911 in Bay City, Matagorda County, Texas, at 71 years of age. Photo

He married Olive.  Olive was born in Mississippi about 1848. 

Oswell was inducted into the military in Texas, February 11, 1862. He was released from active duty in Texas, June 20, 1865. Oswell was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Jackson County, Texas. Oswell applied for a military pension in Matagorda County, Texas, September 15, 1905. Oswell was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census in Matagorda County, Texas.

Oswell Jefferson HOWARD and Olive had the following children:

She married Augustus A. DUNN in Refugio County, Texas, about 1860. 

Mary Ann HOWARD and Augustus A. DUNN had the following children:

43 i. Alice Truehart⁴ DUNN was born in Texas about 1863. Alice died about 1875/1876 in Texas.

44 ii. Archemedes Howard DUNN was born in Texas about 1866.

23. Alcanza (Cannie)³ HOWARD (Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi September 1847. Alcanza died June 17, 1916 in Lampasas County, Texas, at 68 years of age.

She married Richard H. WOOD. Richard was born in Texas November 1846. 

Alcanza (Cannie) HOWARD and Richard H. WOOD had the following children:

She married John F. NUCKOLS. John was born in Texas about 1849. John was the son of John F. NUCKOLS and Mary A.

Elender (Ellen) HOWARD and John F. NUCKOLS had the following children:

25. William Sidney³ HOWARD (Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi July 4, 1854. William died March 17, 1897 in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, at 42 years of age. His body was interred in Bee County, Texas, Evergreen Cemetery.

He married Jessie Duncan DUGAT in St. Mary's Refugio County, Texas, September 11, 1875.  Jessie was born in Liberty County, Texas April 29, 1858. Jessie was the daughter of Joseph L. DUGAT and Sydney Pamela DUNCAN. Jessie died January 3, 1898 in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, at 39 years of age. 

William Sidney HOWARD and Jessie Duncan DUGAT had the following children:

+ 50 ii. Carrie P. HOWARD was born March 11, 1878.

+ 51 iii. Joseph Dugat HOWARD was born March 7, 1880.

53 v. Lucy Josephine HOWARD was born in Beeville, Bee County, Texas March 21, 1886. Lucy died April 5, 1944 in Refugio County, Texas, at 58 years of age. 

She married Milton James MARTIN in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, June 8, 1908.  Milton was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in Harris County, Texas.

26. Elizabeth Virginia³ HOWARD (Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Goliad County, Texas about 1857. Elizabeth died about 1908.

She married Sampson Butler KIMBALL in Bee County, Texas, April 16, 1884. Sampson was born in Rapids Parish, Louisiana about 1852. Sampson was the son of Andrew Jackson KIMBALL and Nancy THOMPSON. Sampson died October 1928 in Mineral City, Texas, at 76 years of age. 

Elizabeth Virginia HOWARD and Sampson Butler KIMBALL had the following children:

55 i. Judson B.⁴ KIMBALL was born in Texas January 1883. Judson died about 1955 in Beeville, Bee County, Texas.

56 ii. Maude KIMBALL was born in Texas June 1886. Maude died about 1908 in Texas.

57 iii. Cynthia KIMBALL  was born in Texas about 1888. Cynthia died about 1917 in Texas.

58 iv. Jennie KIMBALL was born in Texas about 1890. Jennie died about 1960. She married Orin MAULDIN. 

59 v. Andrew Jackson KIMBALL was born in Texas about 1894. Andrew died about 1980 in Mineral City, Texas. He married Ruby GATTIS. 

60 vi. Howard KIMBALL was born in Texas ABOUT 1897. Howard died about 1951 in Texas.

62 viii. Beulah KIMBALL was born in Texas about 1901.

She married Elbert S. MOBERLEY in Matagorda County, Texas, December 26, 1910.

66 i. Edith Elizabeth⁵ MOBERLEY was born December 3, 1911. Edith died February 7, 1969 at 57 years of age. She married Lawrence Wooten MILLIFF May 25, 1927. 

67 i. Minnie Claudia⁵ MOBERLEY was born August 4, 1913. She married Arnold Austin FANSON August 21, 1935. 

42. Claudia⁴ HOWARD (Oswell Jefferson³, Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Texas February 1891. Claudia married a Mr. Culver.

Claudia died in childbirth.

45. William W.⁴ WOOD (Alcanza (Cannie)³ HOWARD, Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Texas May 1870.

He married Alpha in Texas, about 1890. Alpha was born in Texas September 1869. 

William W. WOOD and Alpha had the following child:

48. Annie⁴ NUCKOLS (Elender (Ellen)³ HOWARD, Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹)  was born in Texas about 1878.

She married Oscar BENEDICT.

49. Thomas Duncan⁴ HOWARD (William Sidney³, Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Refugio County, Texas August 7, 1876. Thomas died March 28, 1944 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, at 67 years of age.

He married four times. He married Nellie MUSSET in Bee County, Texas, March 13, 1897.  Nellie was born in Texas May 1882. Nellie was granted a divorce from Thomas Howard in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, September 10, 1908. He married Daisy D. about 1908. He married Ella LAMBETH in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, August 18, 1917. He married Grace Ann HUNTER in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, February 18, 1920.  Grace died March 27, 1985 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. 

Thomas Duncan HOWARD and Nellie MUSSET had the following children:

72 i. Raymond Lee⁵ HOWARD  was born in Beeville, Bee County, Texas March 1898. Raymond died May 3, 1899 in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, at 1 year of age. His body was interred May 4, 1899 in Beeville, Bee County, Texas.

73 ii. Edith M. HOWARD  was born in Beeville, Bee County, Texas about 1901.

She married Philip SCHREIBER in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, October 15, 1948. Gracie Lee Howard and Joseph Calvin O'Ward are the parents of my husband Michael Lee Schreiber. Gracie's second husband Philip Schreiber adopted my husband in 1950.

76 v. Edna Jessie HOWARD was born in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas June 23, 1923. Edna died June 30, 1969 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, at 46 years of age. Her body was interred in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, Oak Grove Cemetery. She married Jack GROOMS. 

77 vi. Wilber Sidney HOWARD was born in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas September 22, 1926. Wilber died December 17, 1989 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, at 63 years of age. His body was interred December 20, 1989 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, Oak Grove Cemetery.

78 vii. Dorris Marie HOWARD was born in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas February 22, 1928. Dorris died 1965 at 37 years of age. Her body was interred 1965 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, Oak Grove Cemetery. She married Leland BIGGERS. 

50. Carrie P.⁴ HOWARD (William Sidney³, Thomas Jefferson², Thomas¹) was born in Beeville, Bee County, Texas March 11, 1878. Carrie died December 25, 1962 in El Paso, Texas, at 84 years of age.

She married Andrew M. STOVALL in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, October 16, 1899. Andrew was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Beeville, Bee County, Texas.  Andrew was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census in San Patricio County, Texas. Andrew was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in San Patricio County, Texas.

Carrie P. HOWARD and Andrew M. STOVALL had the following children:

He married Maude SMITH in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, June 3, 1909.
